November 2, 2026: The Sally app warns you when an Android recording has no sound
The Sally app on Android now notices when a recording stays silent. If Sally gets nothing but silence from the microphone for 30 seconds, she warns you right away instead of recording a silent hour.
The most common cause is another app using the microphone at the same time, for example a phone or video call on the same device. Android then mutes Sally's recording without stopping it.
What's new?
- Note in the app: the recording screen tells you that Sally isn't getting any sound from the microphone. The recording keeps running
- Notification when locked: with the app in the background or the screen locked, your phone vibrates and shows No sound in your recording
- No false alarms: quiet speech or a silent room do not trigger the warning, because a working microphone always picks up a little background noise
- Clears on its own: as soon as sound arrives again, the note disappears and the recording continues normally. Only the silent part is missing
Keep the Sally app up to date and allow its notifications, so you notice the warning with the screen locked as well.
