FAQ: Sally app
Yes, the Sally mobile app is available for Android and iOS. Record in-person meetings, read the transcript on your phone, and open summaries while you are out.
Yes. Upload audio or video files in the Sally app and Sally transcribes them and writes the summary, which is useful for recordings that were not made live with her.
For the best results in in-person meetings:
- Keep your smartphone within arm's length of the conversation
- Disconnect Bluetooth devices such as headphones, so the built-in microphone is used
- Recordings should be at least 30 seconds long to produce a usable transcript
- Have everyone introduce themselves briefly at the start. That is what lets Sally tell the speakers apart
Nothing is lost. A recording you stopped by accident is listed under "Pending recordings" in the app, where you can resume or finalize it.
Yes. After stopping a recording, you can link it to an existing calendar appointment. That keeps your recordings organized and makes the right transcript easy to find later. You can give the recording your own name as well.
The Sally app keeps a technical log in the background, and logging is on by default. If recording, pausing, or uploading goes wrong, send us that log and we can look into it.
How to access the logs:
- In the Sally app, go to Settings → About Sally → Diagnostics
- You will see three options:
- "Send to Support": opens your email app with the log already attached. This is the quickest route.
- "Copy to Clipboard": copies the log content so you can paste it into a chat or email.
- "Delete Log": permanently deletes the logs. Only use this if you are sure you no longer need them.
Important:
- Send the log soon after the problem occurs. It holds 2 MB and older entries are discarded, so if you wait too long the relevant part may already be gone.
- Send it before you continue: before the next recording, before reinstalling the app, and before deleting anything.
- If you turned logging off at some point, the Diagnostics page shows a red notice with a switch to turn it back on. Events are logged again from that point on, but nothing is recovered from before.
- Privacy: the log never leaves your device unless you press one of those buttons.
